Pregnancy is a wonderful journey for both a mother and her developing baby. Preparing yourself for this extraordinary journey of rollercoaster changes is utmost importance. I clearly remember my first time pregnancy where I was quite nervous. Thinking of ‘HOW’ to take care of myself and giving the best to my fetus. One of the most important thing I learned was the importance of taking ‘MILK’ for that extra nourishment which both mother and developing baby needed. Saying that, I went for a refresher workshop held by Anmum Materna at Colony, KLCC Office Space recently.
While we prep our body thru this amazing journey, a mother physiologically adapts to sustain a life within her. Her child goes through astounding growth from a cluster of cells to an amazing baby with beating heart, facial features and kicking legs – all in a span of 40 weeks.
The most significant change in pregnancy is our weight gain, which comes mainly from the phenomenal increase in the volume of body fluid to protect the baby in our womb. A healthy weight woman puts on an average of 11.5 to 16kg during pregnancy. Besides the weight of the baby, she also gains weight from the increase of blood, about 30 to 50% or 1.5 to 2 litres more to transport oxygen and nutrients to her developing baby.
Now, when the blood volume increase, our heart has to work harder to pump blood through our body thus increasing our heart rate to 10 to 20 more beats per minute. That means, we also need about 20% more oxygen for both our self and the developing baby.
Within our womb, the baby is developing astoundingly. At 4 weeks, the little one has transformed from a group of cells into an embryo. At the same time, her 3 primary brain parts are formed. By week 6 to 7, her heart starts beating at a regular rhythm. She can even feel touches by week 8.
Fast-forward to week 10, her facial features become more distinct and can have different facial expressions and even smile in the following weeks. By week 26, the baby’s unique fingerprints have developed. Around 4 to 5 months, her heart pumps more than 28 litres of blood a day. WOW!
Anyway, when I was pregnant I drank a lot of milk for extra nourishment. However, there’s this fear in me that I might put on extra weight. Understanding that pregnancy is one of the most remarkable changes that both mother and her developing baby will go through, leading pre-natal milk brand Anmum Materna introduced a newly-improved formula to provide the nutrients that support both mums’ and their developing babies’ need through these changes.
The new formulation of Anmum Materna with Mind-Q Connect™ provides important nutrients during pregnancy. These key nutrients include Folate and Calcium that meets 100% of pregnancy recommended nutrient intake with two glasses a day; and Priobiotic DR10™, a unique pretended probiotic which is clinically tested to promote good gut health.
Apart from that, the newly improved Anmum Materna is also formulated with no added sugars(*), low in fat and is one of the lowest calories maternal milk served. Thus, mommies who feared developing gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) can be assured that this milk helps to keep their diet in line. Busy and active mothers would also appreciate the new stick packs, allowing them to easily have a glass of Anmum Materna wherever they go. Super convenient!
At the workshop, celebrity Jihan Muse and Ng Kar Yoon both enthusiastically shared their motherhood journey and loved for Anmum Materna. Having it on daily basis ensure it meets their nutritional intake to support the baby’s growth!
