I’ve been hearing rave reviews from a close friend about Frisson Coffee Bar which dishes amazing carbo food. With that in mind, I headed over there with some friends for a lunch session. Parking at Uptown, PJ is always a challenged however that day I got lucky and managed to get a good parking lot just 2 steps away from the bar. Entering into the café, I fell in love with its rustic interior that features beautifully lighted lightboxes with a charming open spaced garden design.
To start off our review, we decided to order some drinks for our parched throats. For coffee, it was the usual Flat White for my friend.
As for me, I ordered the Perk-Me a.k.a. Sugar Rush which is a mixture of Frisson’s Soda and Ribena with a single-shot espresso. Add in a slice of lemon with a scoop of premium vanilla ice cream and ‘Voila’ its the perfect mix of drink and dessert combination. Definitely a ‘Must Try’ as the ice cream is just to die for and this drink will set you on a rocket sugar trip!
Our first main dish served was the Aglio Olio Smoked Salmon.
A classic Aglio Olio spaghetti that’s perfectly al-dente filled with generous toppings of sundried tomatoes, olives and chili flakes topped with fresh Norwegian Smoked Salmon.
Next, we had something from the new menu, which was the Donut Ringmaster Burger.
This is one smackingly high in sugar and fully loaded carbonated dish. Featuring 150g of well marinated 100% Australian beef patty that’s so juicy with beef bacon and cheese lathered in Frisson special sauce. Topped with a sunny side up egg. Definitely, ’Must Try’ dish for the donut was fluffy and soft, while the beef patty is tender to bite on.
Another dish that we ordered, was also fresh off the new menu list is the Wessy Waffle Burger.
A 200g of marinated 100% Australian beef patty with beef bacon and cheese, topped with peanut butter and jelly, sandwiched between layers of crispy waffles. This is also a ‘Must Try’ dish, what a stroke of genius to add on oozing peanut butter and jelly to alleviate the sweetness of the waffles. The beef patty is also well seasoned and juicy as well.
Finally, to end our meal we ordered the Black Forest Affogato.
This Affogato differs from the norms where it’s usually served with a scoop of ice cream. It was really a good choice as the Affogato was filled with butter cookies, cherries, chunky white and dark chocolate. Topped with vanilla ice-cream and you can also opt for either a choice of espresso or chocolate shot. Simply scrumptious and I guarantee you’ll ask for more! Comes highly recommended.
Frisson Coffee Bar was definitely worth the visit. From the drinks to the main dishes, I was blown away for each dish was equally good. Not to mentioned, food presentation was creatively done and freshness of their ingredients is evident in their dishes as well. By the way, they have a bar known as ‘BOND’ on the upper level serving alcohol and cocktails after 5pm. Feel free to check the place out if you’re ever nearby for a quick sugar trip or just to grab a couple of beers with the buddies.
