Remember 20 years ago when Independence Day hit the cinemas, the crowd went crazy surging the cinemas nationwide to catch this epic human vs aliens battle showdown. It’s now back (20 years later), we’ve got Independence Day: Resurgence promising to deliver better visual effects , battle sequences and global catastrophe on an unimaginable scale.
We always knew they were coming back. Using recovered alien technology, the nations of Earth have collaborated on an immense defense program to protect the planet. But nothing can prepare us for the aliens’ advanced and unprecedented force. Only the ingenuity of a few brave men and women can bring our world back from the brink of extinction.
The plot is easy to understand, the aliens are backed with a vengeance to take our planet in the most hostile way ever and the only way to win is we stand united against them. Here were are brought back together with some familiar faces such as Jeff Goldblum (Director David Levinson), Bill Pullman (The President), Judd Hirsch (David’s Dad), Vivica A. Fox (Will Smith’s wife ) and Brent Spiner (Dr. Okun) who reprises their role from Independence Day (20 years ago).
After 20 years, some of the survivors from the 1st attack can now communicate on a physic level with the aliens to the extend of understanding their language. They can feel the aliens coming for our planet and tried to warn everyone about it.
We’re also introduced to the new batch of heroes featuring Liam Hemsworth, Jessie Usher, Maika Monroe and Angelababy who’re in the elite pilot fighters team known as ‘The Squadron’. There’s is a disagreement between Liam Hemsworth and Jessie Usher (who used to be the close buddies). However, I shall not reveal it here.
As the planet goes into global catastrophe where cities landmarks are being destroyed by alien fleets , the heroes try to find a method to kill the ‘Alien Queen’ and found the ‘Sphere’ but is she an enemy or allied?
The ending of the movie is entirely predictable after all we’ve got to win against the aliens (there’s no doubt about it). What makes this movie better is the effort the team puts in the special visual effects and battle sequences zone. The aliens costume is pretty detailed as well. Try watching it in 3D and you’ll find yourself immersed in the battle between human vs alien.
