Whittaker’s Chocolate Hunting Fun

We’ve heard tons about treasure hunts but imagine being invited to a CHOCOLATE HUNT! That tops it all coz chocolate is my vice. Without any hesitation, I jumped in and said ‘YES’. Hence, last weekend, I was at Jaya Grocer, Starling Mall partaking in Whittaker’s Chocolate Hunt Fun!

Well, if you haven’t heard or taste of Whittaker’s Chocolate, it’s high time you give it try. A favourite among chocolate lovers, Whittaker’s originates from New Zealand and is the country’s Most Trusted Brand. Established over 120 years ago by J.H. Whittaker, the company is now being directed by third-generation Whittakers (now, I wished to be in the family too lolx).  Whittaker’s has now spread its wings into Asian market and is widely available in China, North Asia and South – East Asia.

Ever wonder, what makes this chocolate stood out among the rest? Whittaker’s is made in Porirua, New Zealand and it’s the only major chocolate manufacturer in New Zealand that ensures quality by controlling the whole manufacturing process – from beans to bar. That’s one the main reasons the brand has been so successful in the market.

In fact, Whittaker’s core range of chocolates are Halal Certified. It features a variety of flavours available in 200g Blocks, 50g Slabs, 50g chunks and Mini Slabs.  Their top-selling product is the Almond Gold but other hot favourites include 5-Roll Refined Creamy Milk Block, 72% Cocoa Dark Ghana, Dark Almond and Dark Peppermint. I got a chance to indulge and each bite was truly sinful! My favourite goes to the Almond Gold and Dark Orange.

Oooh..one must also try the L&P (Lemon & Paeroa) chocolate too. It has lemon flavours and includes popping candy! The Coconut slab is equally tasty as well!

After indulging my tummy with tons of chocolate, it’s time for the Chocolate Hunt. We were given a set of questions and the team with the most correct answers will win. Armed with a pen, we headed for the chocolate aisles to look for our answers. It wasn’t easy at all as there’s more than 10 different types of Whittaker’s chocolate available!

Next activity was a Blind Date session. We were given 6 different type of Whittaker’s chocolates to taste. Using our taste bud, we had to list down all the unique flavours. This was tough and reminded so much about ‘Masterchef’ reality show.

While waiting for our marks to be counted, we were given the opportunity to learn some baking tips from Chef Faizah using Whittaker’s products.

Thereafter, we also had fun decorating our very own cupcake too. Check out my decadent raspberry chocolate cupcake *yums*

Yeah…it’s time to announce winners for both activities. Drum rolls……congratulations goes to Elana, Patricia, Cik Lily and Diya!

Chocolate lovers unite!

I had so much fun at the event and was simply quite reluctant head home. By the way, during the event we were also introduced to Whittaker’s premium chocolate range known as Artisan Collection. It’s available in 100g sizes and feature unique flavour combinations from the finest ingredients in New Zealand. Apart from that, there are some new flavours to look out for such as:

  • Limited Edition L&P Sharebag 180g
  • Limited Edition Dark Orange Sharebag 180g
  • Coconut- Block 200g and Sharebag 180g
  • Limited Edition Artisan Hawke’s Bay Black Doris Plum and Roasted Almonds 100g
  • Limited Edition Artisan Single Origin Samoan Cacao 100g
