Next month (April), marks the entrance of Ramadhan Mubarak observed by all Muslims around the world. It’s also the time to indulge and breakfast together with family and friends. Pullman Kuala Lumpur City Centre Hotel and Residences (Pullman KLCC) honours this holy month with the insertion of Citarasa Sedap buffet dinner spread.
This year, Pullman KLCC’s Sedap Restaurant will be featuring an Asian fusion menu. From traditional dishes with twists of their own, Ayam Bakar Tebu and Rendang Rusa, to the locally infused Japanese cuisine; serunding Maki rolls, are among few of the dishes that will be highlighted on the spread.
Pullman KLCC also welcomes their new Chef De Cuisine, Mohd Azizan Bin Apande, a local prominent chef with more than 20 years of hands-on culinary experience. One of his biggest milestone was when Chef Azizan was selected to represent Malaysia to serve the Brunei Royalties’, Prince and Princess of Brunei in 2019 for a month in Fairmont Makati, Philippines. In planning for Citarasa Sedap, he has meticulously selected and arranged the layout, traffic flow and splitting up sections for plates, breads, welcome drinks and desserts.
So be prepared to be amazed with innovative dishes, condiments and assortments that caters to sate the palate of all ages. Food stations are stretch from inside Sedap Restaurant to the outdoors in front of the hotel lobby main entrance, where you can seep in the bazaar ambience. Come over, take a walk and enjoy the Malaysian ambience whilst selecting from 200 food choices!
From the stalls located outdoors (in front of Pullman KLCC’s main entrance), look out for the locally infused Takoyaki and Oden. As well as, keropok lekor cheese, cheesy potato twisters, churros, kebab, ayam bakar tebu, boba tea and many more. Must visit is the goreng-goreng stall, serving juicy golden fried banana fritters and cempedak. I also loved the sweet potato balls too!
Kerabu & Sambal Island
If you’re fans of Kerabu, Pullman KLCC’s Sedap Restaurant has prepared ‘Create Your Own Classic Favourite Kerabu’ island. Mix and match different types of herbal kerabu condiments, such as Shredded Chicken, Prawns, Squid Peanut ‘’Melanau Prawn Umai Salads’’ Banana Blossom & choice of Homemade Dressing Pie Tee. Fresh tropical fruits selection are also available and can be turned to rojak with just a splash of shrimp paste for a more local ensemble.
Take a stop at the savory island featuring 11 custom made sambal selection. There’s Durian Cured Chilies & Vietnamese Mint (Sambal Tempoyak Daun Kesum) and Bird Eye Anchovy’s Chilies (Sambal Ikan Bilis Tumbuk Cili Api), among others. Served with assorted crackers and pickles such as Prawn Crackers and Melinjo Chips, these platters will leave you wanting for more.
Main Dish Island
Looking to fill your empty tummy, then this station is a good choice. There’s Stir Fried Beef Lung with Chili Paste, Duck Egg with Coconut Cream and Eggplant, Beef Simmered with Potato and Spices and Wok-fried Vegetables with Young Corn among others. Pair with a bowl of steaming white rice, absolutely perfect.
Festive Aidilfitri Island
For Ramadhan, we definitely got to have the Aidilfitri festive selection. Try the ayam madu berjintan, pais ketam, gulai tempoyak ikan patin, daging masak hitam, udang sambal petai, siput sedut keladi, kari kepala ikan tenggiri and burung puyuh sambal hijau. My favourite is the hirisan daging daun selasih pair with fragrant nasi minyak.
How can I forget the array of ketupat palas and lemang. Opt for either toppings such as Assorted Beef or Chicken Floss in Asian Spices & Chilies. Otherwise, there’s also the traditional porridge with assorted toppings (bubur lambuk).
Here comes my favourite island…yeah its’ desserts! At Sedap Restaurant, satisfy your sweet tooth cravings with the confectionaries available. Must look out for the Durian Sensation Dessert bar for specially curated durian themed desserts.
There’s also fresh cuts of tropical fruits and assorted Raya cookies. For beverages to smooth your parch throats, opt for local favourites such as sirap bandung, the bunga and air jagung. Last but not least, end the night with ice creams featuring strawberry, durian, lime and other flavors.
