Affordable Exquisite Fine Dining @ Marco Creative Cuisine

Fine Dining is an experience that everyone should be able to enjoy. However, most fine dining are extremely over price. This year, foodies should rejoice for renown Marco Creative Cuisine has officially opened its door in 1 Utama (Old Wing, Opposite of Pasta Zanmai).

Why should we rejoice? This 62-seater restaurant is offering a 7-course degustation fine dining menu exquisitely crafted by chef cum owner, Daren Leong at only RM 78+ per pax. With the affordable pricing, Marco Creative Cuisine has set quite a high standard for fine dining at its best. Every dish is exquisitely hand crafted by Chef Daren, multi course menu is made from scratch, right from making stock and butchering poultry in-house.

Marco Creative Cuisine is easily recognisable from its exterior. Why? Just look for the jelly fish aquarium which stood on against the pastel modern contemporary setting. The restaurant is dimly lit to create a romantic ambience. To complement the settings, the interior is painted in colours of white and gold with fresh flowers décor set against aqua chairs and pristine white chairs. If you’re set on impressing your date, this restaurant would be the perfect choice!

Palate Cleanser: Velvety Matcha-Lime Shooter

To prepare our palate for the myriad of flavors, we need to first cleanse and neutralize our taste bud with Velvety Matcha-Lime Shooter. The tangy chill lime complement well against the matcha flavour to awaken our palate for the next dish.

Appetizer: Savoury Éclair

A twist from the classic Savoury Éclair. Be prepared for the burst of flavours from this crisp Gruyere Flavoured Pate a Choux topped with creamy Aubergine Caviar, Green Chile Pesto, and Tomato Confit. An advice ‘use your hands’ to eat it so that you may savour every bite.

Strawberry Gazpacho

Chill cold soup is extremely rare in Malaysia. So I took the chance and order Strawberry Gazpacho. Open our appetite with tangy chill strawberries soup with a sweet mix of greens such as cucumbers, mint, and capsicum. Love it for the taste is extremely well balance and not too sour!

Truffled Mushroom Soup

A classic soup that every restaurant must have. At Marco Creative Cuisine, this mushroom soup is perfectly executed. Creamy, luscious and topped with generous amount of truffle oil.

Entrée: Savoury Ice Cream

This is an interesting entrée for it features savoury ice cream made with sea salt and skimmed milk. No doubt about it Chef Daren surely knows how to entice our taste bud. The savoury ice cream is paired with assorted baby leaves, heirloom tomato, seasonal greens and violet flowers that’s got me begging for 2nd dips.


Duck Breast with Orange Puree and Roasted Beetroot

I ordered the recommended Duck Breast with Orange Puree and Roasted Beetroot. This classic dish has a twist to it. Inspired by Cantonese roast duck, Chef Daren uses the sous vide method to make the meat juicy and tender. This dish is accompaniment with Naval orange puree, 66% Valrhona dark chocolate sauce, and roasted beetroot.  Resulting in burst of exciting flavours such as sweetness, bitterness and tanginess. Well executed and delicious to boot!

Chicken Roulade with Brussels Sprout

I also tasted the Chicken Roulade with Brussels Sprout as well. Another winner for the chicken is extremely moist and tender.

Salmon with Jet Black Hollandaise

For fish lovers, do order this. Using rock salt, the salmon’s skin is extremely crisp while the salmon meat is perfectly soft and pinkish. It goes well with Squid Ink Hollandaise and Green Chile Pesto sauce. Plus factor, we’ve got pickled beetroot and tobiko on the sides as well.


Deconstructed Lemon Meringue Pie

I just loved desserts and ordered Chef’s recommendation the Deconstructed Lemon Meringue Pie. Quite blown away with the beautifully plated presentation of Lemon Curd, Passion Fruit Gel, Italian Meringue and White Chocolate Sherbet. Loved the tangy, sourish and sweet flavours!

Raspberry Decadence

Raspberry Decadence is another good choice to end your meal. Citrusy flavours bursting from raspberry with luscious Strawberry Cheesecake accompanied by Lemon Meringue Shards and Passion Fruit Gel.

Throughout our gastronomic journey, we only drank water so that it doesn’t affect our palate. Drinks will only be served at the end, you can opt for either Single Origin French Pressed Coffee, Loose Tea Leaves, or Sparkling Iced Berry.

I enjoyed every single dish from Marco Creative Cuisine’s – The Journey Of Flavour’s menu. At RM78+ this meal is definitely a bargain and the meal is pretty good as well. You may also opt to order ala-carte dishes from the menu at the following price:

  • Soup, Entree: RM18 per serving
  • Main: RM35 per serving (+RM10 for Duck Breast)
  • Dessert: RM20 per serving
