Last week, I had the pleasure to be invited to Annick Goutal unveiling of Les Absolus Collection. The Annick Goutal House has created an Oriental collection of exceptional character featuring the infamous Oud wood, Vanilla bean and Amber. The Les Absolus collection which includes three new fragrances: 1001 Ouds, Vanielle Charnelle and Ambre Sauvage comes in newly designed bottles that’s chic and elegant. The box itself is an avant-garde creation in classic black and gold colours that opens up like a fairytale book to reveal the precious fragrance nestled inside.
1001 Ouds is inspired by the story of an Arabian Princess from One Thousand and One Night. The fragrance boasts a harmony of rose, papyrus, myrrh, gaiac wood and agarwood”. I tried the scent and the aroma is certainly sensual with a strong woody base.
Vanille Charnelle is a declaration of femininity and it’s like a second skin fragrance. It opens with an opulent mixture of ylang-ylang and pepper. Followed by vanilla, tonka bean and white musk. Finally, the base note which is a combination of vetiver and vanilla absolute that is intriguing and captivating. Personally, this is my favourite scent as the aroma sets you in a romantic mood.
Ambre Sauvage is aphrodisiac and is considered the most carnal accords in perfumery. Opening notes features patchouli and resins with a soft touch of delicate amber. Followed by pink peppercorns and lavender that gives an icy bursting effect and end with a base note of iris and velvety vanilla. Upon the first spray, you might be taken aback with its strong wild scent but once it settles into your skin, the scent turns a delicate sensual amber.
Annick Goutal 1001 Ouds, Vanille Charnelle and Ambre Sauvage Eau de Parfum will be available in 75 ml and is retailing at RM1,188 per bottle. The Les Absolus Collection is available at the below locations:
