Howdy folks, Christmas and New Year celebrations has just ended. Now, we look forward to ushering Chinese New Year this coming January 2017! Today, I’m delighted to shared with you Chinese New Year Menu -Petals Of Prosperity from Zuan Yuan Chinese Restaurant, One World Hotel. This year, Chef Kong who helms the kitchen of Zuan Yuan Chinese Restaurant will be serving traditional dishes with a touch of artistry.

Let’s start our CNY food journey with a tossed of Yee Sang offering good wishes and hopes for the New Year!

YEE SANG WITH SALMON

Here we’ve got premium yee sang with fresh salmon. Pour in the sauces and tossed it to enjoy!

DELUXE BRAISED SEA TREASURES SOUP WITH ‘SONG RONG’ MUSHROOM

This warm broth is one of the speciality boiled soup introduced by Chef Kong. Indulge your tummy with this fragrant soup that’s filled with thinly sliced ‘Song Rong’ mushrooms and crab meats.

STEAMED VILLAGE CHICKEN WITH CHINESE HERB

My favourite dish is this tender steamed chicken with fragrant chinese herbs. The meat was juicy and the herb sauce was absolutely divine.

STEAMED DRAGON GAROUPA WITH SUPERIOR SOY SUACE ‘HONG KONG’ STYLE

Every Chinese New Year, serving fish is a compulsory dish for it represents ‘Nian Nian You Yu’ which means ‘abundance of fortune floating in’. Steamed to perfection, the fresh fish meat just simply melt in your mouth. Dip itwith the soy sauce and I’ll bet you’ll be asking for second or even third helpings.

WOK FRIED SEA PRAWN COATED WITH CRUMBS AND GOLDEN GARLIC

Crispy on the outside and soft in the inside, this wok fried sea prawns was one of the best dish of the night.

BRAISED DRIED OYSTER, FLOWER MUSHROOM AND SEA MOSS WITH SUPERIOR OYSTER SAUCE

Fresh green broccoli cook together with flower mushroom, braised dried oyster and sea moss. The sauce is made from premium oyster sauce which brings out the unique taste of all the ingredients, making this a flavoursome dish.

STEAMED RICE WITH FRIED YAM, PRESERVED SLICED DUCK AND SAUSAGE IN CLAYPOT

I’ve never been a huge fan of steamed rice with yam but this claypot this by Zuan Yuan Chinese Restaurant totally changed my mind. We’ve got perfectly cooked rice topped with generous preserved slice duck and sausage. The preserved slice duck provides a hint of saltiness to the dish, whilst the sausage was a delight to bite on. Extremely addictive, I had 2 bowls of it!

STEAMED COCONUT ‘NIAN GAO’

Wondering why this ‘Nian Gao’ is not in its usual form of brownish color? It’s because this ‘Nian Gao’ was made with white sugar. To elevate the sweet taste, it’s topped with generous Coconut Flakes. Truly scrumptious.

DRIED PEAR SOUP WITH RED DATE, SNOW FUNGUS, SNOW LOTUS SEED AND PEACH GUM

Last but not least, soothe your throat with this chilled dessert filled with healthy goodness such as red dates, snow fungus, snow lotus seed and peach gum.

The set menus are priced at RM1,738.00 nett, RM1,988.00 nett, and RM2,218.00 for a table of ten with a complimentary bottle of wine.
