Ming Palace located at Corus Kuala Lumpur is an authentic Chinese restaurant that serves delectable Dim Sum fare. The restaurant specializes in ‘SzeChuan’ cuisines and has won the accolade – Award Winning Best Restaurant a couple of years ago. Walking into Ming Palace, it’ll set you back into the good olden days of the early 80’s, where friendly staff greets you warmly into a cozy ambience. Recently, I was there with some friends to sample their Dim Sum Eat-All –You-Can ala-carte menu and it’s truly a gastronomic experience.
For steam dim sum, we ordered the Steamed Chicken Dumpling (Siew Mai), Steamed Fish Ball Dumpling, Steamed BBQ Chicken Bun, Rice Flour Roll (BBQ Chicken), Steamed Fresh Scallops with Beancurd Skin, Steamed Chicken & Asparagus Dumpling and Steamed Chicken & Crabmeat Dumpling.
Some of my favourite steam dim sum are Steamed Fish Ball Dumpling for its bouncy with a hint of saltiness and Steamed Chicken & Crabmeat Dumpling which is sweet and juicy. I also loved the Steamed BBQ Chicken Bun and Steamed Chicken Dumpling (Siew Mai) for it’s really succulent.
Next, we ordered the fried dim sum which consists of Deep Fried Yam Dumpling, Deep Fried Fish Paste with Salted Egg Yolk, Japanese Fried Dumpling and Deep Fried Crispy Otak Otak Roll.
My favourite would definitely go to Deep Fried Fish Paste with Salted Egg Yolk that’s crunchy, sweet and salty. The Deep Fried Crispy Otak Otak Roll is also recommended for its slightly spiciness flavours is truly addictive.
Apart from the steam and fried dim sum, we also ordered some dishes like Stir Fried Vegetable with Garlic, Fried ‘Loh Su Fun’ and ‘Szechuan’ Hot and Sour Soup. The ‘Must Try’ dish from this range would definitely have to be ‘Szechuan’ Hot and Sour Soup that’s so appetizing and the flavours just burst in my palate. I also highly recommend the Fried ‘Loh Su Fun’ which is full of ‘wok hei’ and non-oily. Remember to ask for their delicious sambal to eat with the noodles.
We ended our feast with some desserts that consists of Lemongrass Jelly with plum, Chilled Sea Coconut with Longan, Peanut Mochi and Chilled ‘Kuai Fa’ with Wolfberry. My favourite ‘Must Try’ dessert is the Chilled ‘Kuai Fa’ with Wolfberry which has a tad of sweetness and fragrant Chrysanthemum scent. The Peanut Mochi is also recommended for its delicious creamy and smooth peanut fillings.
Ming Palace certainly serves great tasty ‘pork free’ Dim Sum and this is truly a place for Dim Sum fans to try.
