This is the first time I was invited to Japan Beauty Week and was I excited to be able to explore new products from the beauty wonderland. As many of you know, Asia is a source of innovation and the demand for quality beauty products are increasing every year. Japan is currently one of the highest per capital spending and sales figure on skin care and beauty products.
Japan Beauty Week is organized by Japan Cosmetic Industry Association (JCIA) and supported by the Japan Embassy in Malaysia. It has been held consecutively for the last 3 years at the exclusive residence of the Japanese Ambassador. *wow* What does the event promotes? Japan Beauty Week aims to promote innovations of Japanese cosmetics manufacturing technologies including the introduction of inner beauty.
The event kick started with a welcome speech by the Japanese Ambassador, H.E Dr. Makio Miyagawa followed by and a short speech from Mr. Tetsuya Kambe from JCIA.
“It’s a well-known fact that behind the technology of Japanese industries, there is a long tradition of respect for nature and the arts to master the secret of technological innovations; reason why Japanese products are widely acknowledged as the most advanced,” said Kambe San
There was a surprise in store for the guests. A special appearance by famous Japanese TV personality, Ms. Akari Nakamuta. I was delighted to be able to take a picture with her, she’s really bubbly and friendly.
It’s also at the event, I get to familiarize myself with several of the leading Japanese Cosmetic brands such as, Kanebo Cosmetics Malaysia Sdn Bhd, Kao (M) Sdn Bhd , KOSE (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd, Nippon Menard (M) Sdn Bhd , Shiseido Malaysia Sdn Bhd and Sunstar Singapore Pte Ltd. Each brand has a counter of their own and was there to present and provide beauty consultations on the spot!
My adventure ended with a dinner reception hosted by JCIA and co-host by the Japan Embassy. It’s great to be able to network and meet more beauty experts in the field. Hopefully, next year I get to attend this event again as it was so much fun!
