Having a quality bonding time with the kids via reading is always fun for me. However, over time both my kids seems to be reluctant to read. They might be feeling bored, so what do I do? Well, I introduced them to group reading session with my nephew and niece. Armed with fun and interactive books from Scholastic Asia, I invited my nephew and niece over for a get-together.
There are many benefits to having a small group reading session. It can help kids to learn from one another and provide a solution to procrastinating. Each of the kids get to select their own book to share their learning.
My nephew who’s a Lego Fan, went for Lego Emergency that showcases facts on Fire Engines and it comes with 30 stickers too. Needless to say, he was quite excited about it and was asking a lot of questions.
Whilst his sister (my niece) selected Shopkins – Lost & Found. Something light and fun with stickers to be placed inside the book. She was having a grand time with it.
My elder boy went for Play Date Pals, a collection of 4 series featuring emotions behaviour such as angry, happy, sad and scared. The book contains chart rewards as well as stickers so that I may reward him whenever he achieve or improved his behaviour.
Lastly, my younger son went for This is a Rabbit – a Lift the Flap book. He was having fun flipping those flaps up to reveal the hidden message.
It was a great reading experience as they bonded and traded books to read with one another. I should organised another session soon.
To my loyal readers, I’m giving away 3 books as below:
