Homemade DIY Hand Sanitizer

With the outbreak of Wuhan disease and Influeza, people are scrambling to protect themselves and their children. I’m no exception to it as well. I’ve been running around to get protective mask, wet wipes (99.9% anti bacterial) and hand sanitizer.  It was tough as many places such as Watsons, Guardian, Caring and boutique pharmacies the items are sold out.

Now, I expected protective mask and wet wipes to sell out. However, not in a million years hand sanitizer.  Maybe its because I’m not a huge fan thus didn’t cross my mind to quickly grab it (I disliked the gel types). Just for your information, hand sanitiser is generally more effective at killing microorganisms. Back then it was only available in gel formulation, but now it’s available in liquid and foam too!  Although, I’m not a fan of it, I totally agree that it’s super convenient to bring along in the bag and comes in really handy! All you need to do is just squirt or squeeze a dallop from the bottle and voila your hands are squeaky clean.

After spending much time searching high and low, I decided to quit looking for it. Luckily, my friend Joyce Chin (a fellow blogger) knows how to  make DIY hand sanitizer.  Here’s her formulation to make  hand sanitizer:

  • 96% alcohol (70g)
  • Distill water (10g)
  • Aloe Vera gel (14g)
  • Glycerine (5g)
  • Tea tree Essential Oil (10 drops)
  • Eucalyptus Essential Oil (10 drops)

I’ve got the ingredients but pretty unsure on how to make it. Thus, google and found this step-by-step youtube video:

WOW! after watching it, I realised it’s super easy to do. Now, I’m going to make my own batch of hand sanitizer. To all mommies out there, I hope this information will help you during this period. Let’s protect our family and children!
