Another year, another birthday staycation for my prince! This time, we planned a little family escape and booked a 2-Bedroom Residence at Hyatt Regency Kuala Lumpur at KL Midtown. Hyatt Regency Kuala Lumpur at KL Midtown is designed by world-renowned Japanese architect Kengo Kuma, seamlessly blending Japanese tranquillity with modern luxury through the use of natural materials such as wood and stone. Conveniently located near MITEC, the hotel is also set to have AEON opening next door soon.
We arrived early for check-in and headed to the private entrance for the serviced residences, where we were warmly greeted by the friendly staff. Our 2-Bedroom Residence was incredibly spacious and perfect for a family stay. The master bedroom features a comfortable king-sized bed, a walk-in wardrobe, and a spacious bathroom complete with a bathtub and double vanity.
There is also a separate twin bedroom for the boys, which comes with its own bathroom — definitely a plus when travelling as a family. This residence also feature a powder room too. The living room is equally well equipped with a TV, microwave, refrigerator, washing machine, kitchen utensils and more, making the residence feel more like a home.
To surprise our son, we ordered a Strawberry Chiffon Cake from the hotel’s online bakery. The cake was fresh, with a lovely balance of tartness and sweetness, while the chiffon was light, fluffy and moist. It was such a simple way to celebrate his birthday, and we had a wonderful time enjoying the cake together in the comfort of our residence.
One of the highlights of our stay was enjoying the jacuzzi at the infinity pool overlooking the Kuala Lumpur skyline, located at the Residence Lounge on Level 32. The pool offers a more private experience as it is exclusively for Club and serviced residence guests. If you’re staying at the residence, you may also invite guests for a get-together at the Residence Lounge.
For families, there is also a separate family-friendly pool on Level 5, which comes with its own jacuzzi. There are also separate sauna and steam room facilities for male and female guests. Both pools use salt water and are supervised by certified lifeguards, giving us added peace of mind while the boys enjoyed their swim. In addition, the hotel also boasts a dedicated Kids Club, supervised by attentive attendants who engage children with fun and enriching activities, allowing parents to relax with peace of mind.
After a short rest, we headed to China House for our birthday dinner celebration. We indulged in a delicious Northern Chinese feast featuring favourites such as Peking Duck, Honey-Glazed BBQ Wagyu Beef and Seafood Fried Rice, among others. To end the evening, we had the Chinese Dessert Platter, which was almost too beautiful to eat!
The next morning, we had breakfast at Midtown Brasserie, where the buffet spread offered plenty of choices. From freshly made roti canai, waffles, noodles and nasi lemak to others, there was something for everyone. One of the must-tries for us was their Homemade Soya Bean with You Tiao and Homemade Peanut Butter Sauce paired with their fresh pastries. And if you’re craving a good cup of coffee in the morning, you can also place an order with the barista.
After breakfast, the boys and hubby enjoyed another refreshing dip at the residence pool, while I squeezed in a quick workout at the gym. The hotel has one of the largest fully equipped gyms in the city, with personal trainer options available too. With the range of equipment available, I did a quick Hyrox routine here!
