It’s been some time since I participated in a fun run, thus I picked myself up and headed for Spirit of WIPRO Run 2016! Waking up early in the morning, I drove myself all the way from Klang to Perdana Botanical Garden (Lake Garden) in Kuala Lumpur. I was amazed as at 6.45am the parking lot at the park was totally full!

Before we began our run, we had a fun warm up session taught by Nike Ambassador. The Spirit of WIPRO Run kicked off with more than 4,300 participants made up of employees, vendors, friends and suppliers. I participated in the Family Fun Run category which spanned 3KM. There’s also other competitive runs available such as Men Open and Women Open 8KM category.

My stamina has greatly improved since my last run and I clocked in 3KM at 25 mins *woots woots*. Thereafter, I headed to the game booth to check out the families tele-matches, CARRIE JUNIOR mascot appearance, and inflatable castles, fishing pond game, entertaining clown and game booths with prizes. I also had a great meal at the buffet table filled with yummy spreads.

Spirit of WIPRO Run is an annual charity event and this year themed is “Powered By Ambition”. Something interesting about this run is the fact that it’s held concurrently around the world where thousands of WIPRO employees, their families, friends, customers, partners, and suppliers run together on the same day at different locations for a good cause! By contributing RM10 per person, we receive a drawstring bag that consists of a running shirt, cap, and products from WIPRO. This run is a also corporate social responsibility (‘CSR’) initiative that aims to contribute to the society by encouraging systematic improvement in education and to the local communities where WIPRO operates in.

This year, Wipro Unza had also invited and sponsored the children from Rumah Kanak-Kanak Triniti Selangor for the event. For the past two years the Company has been sponsoring the tuition fees for the children, leveraging from our corporate ‘Wipro Cares’ which focuses on contributing to society by catalysing systematic improvement in education and local communities that we operate within.

The day ended with lots of goodies, as well as winners’ prizes ceremony. It was certainly a fun filled day for me. Looking forward to my next run 😀
