Pancake House International Yummy Philippines’s Dishes!

I always thought Pancake House International (PHI) only serves pancakes, drinks and some light snacks. However, recently I was invited for a food review at Pancake House International (PHI), Quill City Mall and to my surprise their menu has quite a variety of food. As we sit down to place our orders, the management of Pancake House International recommended several of their Philippines’s speciality dishes known as Deboned Milkfish. Apparently, apart from pancakes, they’re equivalently popular with these speciality Philippine’s dishes as well.

For drinks, we ordered the following coffee –  Vienna Coffee & Latte.

Some of us opted for non-coffee and frosties drinks such as Hot Chocolate, Cucumber -Green Mango and Vanilla Milkshake.

While, we enjoyed our drinks, the first entree to arrive was Best Taco In Town which includes ingredients such chicken chunks, lettuce tomato, onion and cheese roll into a crispy taco shell served with tuna macaroni salad. This dish comes in 2 pieces and if you’re looking at something light, this is really fulfilling. A bite of the taco reveals its crunchiness and the flavoursome tomato and oozing cheese complement each other very well. Definitely a ‘MUST TRY’!

Next, we had the Classic Pan Chicken with homemade gravy served with Garlic Rice. The garlic rice was fragrant and even though the chicken is crunchy but fear not it’s not oily. Together with this dish, we also had Asparagus Cayenne Soup. Creamy in texture with a dash of unique spiciness, which I really loved.

Following dishes are the infamous Deboned Milkfish, we tried Smoked Golden Tinapa (Smoked Golden Milkfish) which is deboned milkfish smoked to perfection. I was caught off guard with the salmon like taste and was hard pressed not to finish the entire dish. Along with this, we also had Daing na Bangus (Pickled Deboned Milkfish) marinated in a special sauce and pan fried to golden brown. Both of these dishes comes with garlic rice and mango salsa. I highly recommend both of these dishes and do note there’s a dip sauce of garlic and lime juice which is really fantastic.

After this, we had Beef Tapa (Stri-Fried Australian Strip Loin) and Southern Maple Chicken. Beef Tapa is marinated, stir-fried tender Australian Strip Loin served with garlic and mango salsa. While, Southern Maple Chicken is sweet maple-glazed chicken and Caesar Salad served with a choice of garlic or golden crispy waffle (we opted for crispy waffle). I would recommend the Beef Tapa for its sweet and tangy marinated sauces and extremely tender beef. Southern Maple Chicken is also unique but a tad too sweet for me.

Burgers and sandwiches are on our list next. Here, we have House Burger which is beef patty with mushroom, chicken strips, lettuce and tomato on toasted bun. Club Sandwich a triple-decker made of chicken strips, lettuce, egg slices, tomato and cheese. Both items are served with french fries and salad on the side.

Finally, it’s time for pancakes and waffles; and choices are aplenty.  We kick start with Waffle Foldover – golden brown crispy waffle with peanut butter, 2 big scoop of vanilla ice cream filled with candy-coated choco bites on the inside.

Blueberry Pancake which is fluffy and served with butter and maple syrup. Next, Luscious Lemon Pancake Peak which is a stack of mini pancakes with cream cheese filling in-between, served with lemon-flavoured syrup and topped with lemon zest. This is mouth-watering delicious for the cream cheese and lemon combination truly lights up my palette, a ‘MUST TRY’ too!

Last but not least, is Halo-Halo – Shaved ice with milk, sweet corn, sweet potato, sweetened banana, fresh jackfruit strips and topped with homemade custard. Mixed all the ingredients together and you expect it to be extremely sweet. However, it’s the opposite as the flavours complement each other really well and not too sweet at all.
