(Review) Fresh Seafood at Hani Steamfood Restaurant Jalan Puchong

Cruising along Jalan Puchong, you will easily spot Hani Steamfood Restaurant. This two-storey building spots a huge LED screen at the front. The restaurant is located on the upper level, you can either take the stairs or lift to the restaurant. Don’t worry about parking spaces as there ample parking spaces available here.

Hani Steamfood Restaurant offers open sitting area and VIP rooms both equipped with air conditioning. My recommendation is to book the VIP room as it offers better privacy. Although it has a minimum spending but it’s affordable!

We book ourselves a VIP room with KTV to sing to our hearts content while enjoying our meal. This room can easily fit 10 -12 people and the room can be expanded to accommodate more people.

We were famished, scroll down to see our order for dinner:

US Oyster XL Size with White Wine

My first time having an Oyster in a glass of white wine. You can taste the freshness of the oyster and have a whiff of fruity scent from the wine. A good appetizer to kick-start our dinner.

Deep Fried Cauliflower

We enjoyed the crispy exterior texture of the fried cauliflower and yet at the first bite, it still tasted airy light. A rather unique dish to have and best eaten while its warm.

Black Tofu with Cream Cheese Sauce

This fried black tofu is infused with charcoal bamboo hence the unique name. Crispy on the outside and soft at the inner layer. At Hani Steamfood Restaurant, they provide 3 different sauces to pair with this dish. You can opt for ither Creamy Cheese, Mayo Wasabi and Lime Parsley Sauce.

Creamy cheese has a rich creamy texture, whilst Mayo Wasabi is tangy with hints of wasabi and lastly Lime Parsley sauce has a touch of acidity and is refreshing. For me, I prefer to pair the black tofu with mayo wasabi as it elevates the dish taste. However, this is subjective as it depends on your preferences.

Steam Tiger Prawns

This is Hani Steamfood Restaurant’s signature dishes. To have natural sweetness and yet maintained the freshness, the tiger prawns are steam using a ‘UFO’ like steamer. It takes about 7 minutes for the steamer to cook the tiger prawns.

Whilst the prawns cook, the unique juices and rich flavours of the tiger prawns trickle down to the porridge at the bottom (this is the flower crab porridge, which we will focus on later). The tiger prawns are steamed to perfection and taste is juicy and fresh. There’s no need to dip into sauces as the natural flavours are so yummy. However, you always have the choice to request for either Creamy Cheese, Mayo Wasabi and Lime Parsley Sauce.

Flower Crab Porridge

This porridge is cooked with flower crab mix with hints of natural sweetness from the tiger prawns. Sprinkle spring onions and fried scallion to further heighten the aroma of the porridge. You will have a pot of sweet and delicious porridge.

Garlic Butter Crab

If you loved crabs and garlic scent, then this is a must order dish for you. The crab comes covered with generous toppings of crispy garlic and coated with butter layer on the exterior. I loved the freshness of the crabs and the crisp garlic gives it a crunchy taste.

Steam Flower Siakap (Barramundi)

Now, this is my favourite dish of the night. The Steam Flower Siakap (Barramundi) is skilfully slice into fish fillets. Steamed to perfection, each single fish fillet just oozes an amazing, sweet ginger taste. The freshness of the fish will have you asking for more.

Salted Baked Lala on hot plate

I’ve heard about baked Lala before but never have the chance to taste it. It’s quite exhilarating seeing the salted baked Lala opening slowly on the hot plate. The Lala will fully absorb the sea salt and the taste is amazingly good. By the way, the Lala size is also slightly bigger than those served in other places.

Curry Mutton

I’m a huge fan of curry mutton. Hani Steamfood Restaurant got this this dish right. It’s not too spicy and comes with a rich creamy aromatic sauce. Got to say, my husband had two bowls of rice because of it.

Lemongrass Chicken

This is a dish that my kids would love. The citrus, lemon flavour with a hint of mint creates such a lovely inviting fragrance. The creamy chicken is cooked to perfection too.

Kam Heong Fried Rice

A hint of spiciness and simply quite fragrant, this Kam Heong rice is good to with the lemongrass chicken and curry mutton.

Steam Rice Cake

Got myself a not too sweet dessert to end the night. The homemade rice cake is steam with the ‘UFO’ steamer. After it’s cooked, topped it with freshly grated coconut flesh. Look at the generous amount of coconut flesh and you won’t be able to resist it. I would say it’s one of the best steam rice cakes, I had in ages.

Is Hani Steamfood Restaurant worth a visit? I would say yes. The seafood is fresh, and they practice a healthier cooking approach by steaming and using less seasoning on the food. On seafood charges, I find it affordable as it depends on the seafood weight. If you’re looking for a pork free restaurant dishing amazing fresh natural taste seafood, you should visit Hani Steamfood Restaurant at Jalan Puchong.
