When I was young, I secretly laughed whenever I heard the word urinary incontinence or loss of sexual sensation. After all, I was single and care-free. Things changed when I got married and have kids of my own. Now, I know how it feels to have loose pelvic floor muscles.
If you’re unaware, pelvic floor muscles are one of the most important supporters inside a woman’s body. The pelvic floor muscles support the bladder, uterus, and bowel. However, pelvic floor can be weakened by pregnancy & childbirth, menopause, obesity, straining of chronic constipation, prostate cancer treatment and other factors.
After the birth of my second child, I started Kegel exercises to strengthen my pelvic muscles. I noticed a decreased in sexual sensation and loose bladder too. However, the traditional exercises will take time to show results and that’s provided you’re doing it correctly. Today, I want to share about TensCare Kegel Trainers which are designed with EMS tech (electric muscle stimulation) and notable results can be seen in a month. I have tried the traditional methods of Kegel exercise, but it takes time for results to be noticeable. Hence, I’m quite excited when a friend introduced me to Tenscare kegel trainers.
Who is TensCare?
There are many different kegel exercisers in the market, that’s why it’s so important for moms to choose a trustworthy brand, especially when it comes to a product that will be contacting our body so intimately.
TensCare is a UK medical device company specialized in electrotherapy with 28 years of experience, mostly known for the Pain relief TENS unit and Kegel Trainers.

TensCare works with hospitals and pharmacies in UK, their kegel exercisers have been one of the most popular products for postpartum recovery, and Alivia is their latest premium Kegel exerciser.
As an award-winning company over the years, TensCare just received one of the most prestigious awards in UK this year- Queen’s Award (2021), being recognized by the nation as a trustworthy brand.

TensCare Kegel Trainers

TensCare provides 2 types of Kegel Trainers. The Kegel Toner (purple in colour) only has 2 programs, whilst Alivia (green in colour) provides different exercise modes to rehabilitate damaged muscles.

I was recommended to try TensCare Alivia Kegel Trainer (green in colour), which is TensCare latest Kegel Trainer just launched this year, and it’s specially designed for moms. The Kegel Toner (purple in colour) is a more basic kegel trainer that has been one of the best sellers from TensCare.
Which TensCare Kegel Trainers suit you?
Kegel Toner (purple) is an entry level Kegel trainer and has only 2 Programs- Stress and Tone. It’s effective and helpful to strengthen pelvic floor muscles, more recommended for women planning for pregnancy and having very occasional urinary leakage. This trainer will help your pelvic floor to get prepared and stronger.
Alivia (green) is more suitable for women who have given birth and can feel obvious impact on pelvic floor muscles and bladder, such as slight uterine prolapse or more often urinary leakage. It provides 5 programs – 3 Working out modes, 1 Tone, and 1 Period pain relief mode which can also be used for postpartum cramp.
Both trainers are designed to be easy, relaxing with trackable treatment sessions to see notable improvement in 1 month.
Alivia Pelvic Floor Exerciser

This would be perfect for me and mommies who have kids. Alivia Pelvic Floor Exerciser helps to strengthen the pelvic floor muscles and keep it in shape and strong, specially designed for Moms for postpartum recovery. It is recommended to use 6 weeks after giving birth.
It comes with 5 programs as below:
- 3 Exercise modes give pelvic floor muscles an all-round workout with different frequencies and pulses, so the muscles don’t get used to one exercise mode.
- 1 Tone program to strengthen muscles.
- 1 Period Pain Relief (with electrode pads for pain relief treatment). Period pain relief programs can be used for postpartum cramps as well, which uses TENS technology.
| Program | Sensation | Purpose |
| Stress Program | Feel the muscles in vaginal drawing in and contract | Make pelvic floor muscles stronger |
| Urge Program | Gentle vibrating stimulation to soothe pelvic floor muscles | Help to prevent unwanted emptying of the bladder |
| Mixed Program | Choose mixed program which has a default 10 mins of Urge mode and following with 10mins of Stress mode | |
| Tone Program | A mixture of strong drawing and then relaxing. | After noticing the improvement of muscle strength, use Tone twice a week to ensure muscles remain fit |
| Pain relief program | A tingling sensation from 2 pads ( see placement illustration p.18) | Help with menstrual cramp, postpartum cramp in lower abdomen or lower back |
How to use Alivia:

Before using Alivia, remember to urinate. Then, lubricate the metal electrode surfaces and probe tip with a water-based lubricant, such as TensCare Go Gel or water. Next, choose a comfortable position, such as lying down on your bed on your side with your knees raised. Lastly, after the wire is securely connected, insert the probe into your vagina, in the same way as you would a tampon, until only the plastic rim at the base of the probe is visible.
*Tips: Do not use a silicone-based lubricant on the stimulation contacts as it may decrease the effectiveness of the Alivia’s muscle stimulation. Always ensure the Alivia is switched OFF before inserting the probe.
Activating Alivia:

Press the ‘power on’ button to switch it on. Select the program you want by pressing the first top left button ‘P’. To regulate the intensity level, press the arrow ‘up’ & ‘down’. Remember, to power off when you’re done.
Kegel Toner Pelvic Floor Trainer

This is the entry Kegel trainer level which is recommended for women who want to strengthen their bladder and is suitable for young women who want to train their Kegel muscles.
It provides a general exercise to maintain the muscles and prevent urinary incontinence (loss of bladder control). There’s 2 programs available – Working out and Tone.
The steps of using the Kegel Toner are the same as Alivia *wink*
My thoughts on TensCare Alivia

As a busy working mom with 2 active kids, it can be tiring to do Kegel exercise the traditional way or by using Kegel balls. Kegel balls come in certain sizes and weights and can be rather confusing which one is suitable to start with. Furthermore, the results take a longer period to be noticeable.
TensCare Alivia is designed with safety and comfort in mind and suits all mommies. You can use it anywhere and anytime. Be it lying on your own bed or even walking around the house while using it. Plus, you can determine and adjust the intensity level from (0-99mA). Many mommies shared that they notable results in a month. Cheers to stronger pelvic muscles and welcoming the big ‘O’ again with your spouse!
