Zuan Yuan One World Hotel Petaling Jaya, happens to be one of my favourite Chinese Restaurant for dine-in. I’m quite excited see what Executive Chinese Chef, Tommy Choong Chan Hoo prepared for this Lunar New Year.
This year showcases a meaningful ‘Happy Reunion’ menu with stellar festive hits with likes of Yee Sang with Lobster Meat, Black Truffle and Shredded Crystal Pear, Braised Dried Scallop Soup with Dried Seafood, Sea Moss and Eight Treasures and Wok Fried “Live” Grass Prawn with Butter and Oats to name few…

Fits a party of 10 pax, the set menus also come with complimentary bottle of wine or Chinese tea (while stocks last). The promotion is available daily for lunch (12.00 noon to 2.30pm) and dinner (6.30pm to 10.30pm).
For our review, we had a mixture of dishes from the luck, health & wealth set.
We started with a toss to prosperity with Yee Sang with Lobster Meat, Black Truffle and Shredded Crystal Pear. Fresh and tender lobster meat with generous black truffles! I had two plates of this as it tastes so good.
Warmth the tummy with Braised Deep Scallop Soup with Eight Treasures, Dried Seafood and Sea Moss. Next, is juicy Roasted Duck served with pineapple, mango, cucumber and rojak sauce. Brilliant dish with a touch of local taste!
Other dishes include Steamed Cod Fish with Yun Mushroom Red Date and Bean Curd (from ala-carte menu), Wok Fried Fresh Water Prawn with Supreme Butter Sauce served in Claypot and Braised Abalone with Sea Cucumber, Dried Oyster and Garden Greens.
We end with a Wok Fried Rice Cake with Assorted Seafood and Chef’s Special Sauce ‘’Shanghai’’ Style, Steamed Traditional ‘’Nian Gao’’ with Shredded Coconut and Double Boiled Red Dates, Lemongrass and Ginger Tea with Glutinous Rice Ball. I loved the Wok Fried Rice Cake!
Zuan Yuan remains open on the eve of Lunar New Year and throughout the festive season. They have several private rooms available and table arrangements are reconfigured to meet social distancing guidelines, thus reducing capacity. Do make your reservations in advance to avoid disappointment.
