Authentic Italian Cuisine At Café Lafayette

It’s hard to find a good restaurant that serves Italian cuisine but I guess I was lucky when I found Cafe Lafayette located in Uptown, Petaling Jaya. Café Lafayette is well known for its authentic Italian and Western cuisines. Be enthralled when you stepped into Café Lafayette with its chic vintage décor which reminds one of the fast moving New York City with a touch of laid back London style. As I waited for food to be served, I started chatting with Mr. Jack (one of the business partner of Café Lafayette). He shares that in the current market, café that serves authentic Italian cuisine are hard to come about. That’s the reason he choose to focus on Italian cuisine and hire a chef who spend 6 years’ of tutelage under an  Italian chef.

Our first dish was Café Lafayette’s signature appetizer – Fried Mozzarella. Perfectly fried till golden brown perfection with layers of oozing Mozzarella cheese. The bread is soft and the cheese practically melts in your mouth. Dip it with their special homemade sauce and the spicy sweet flavours will alleviate the taste. This is definitely a ‘Must Try’ dish!

Next, we have another of Café Lafayette’s signature -Mushroom Risotto. Rice cooked with organic button mushroom, oyster mushroom, onion and cream. The rice was al-dente with a creamy texture and a touch of chewiness. The creamy sauce (homemade sauce) taste is superb, an absolute ‘Must Try’!

Then, came the Salmon Spaghetti which is stir fried spaghetti with salmon oil served with cream and onion. The spaghetti was cooked al dente however I think this dish is a required taste as the sourness of the tomato sauce is slightly overpowering. It took me two spoonful to get accustomed to it.

Our final dish was Fish N’ Chip  a deep fried dory fish in bread batter, tartar sauce served with garden salad and chip. It’s quite a big portion and tasted good as well.

Our coffee for the day was Rose Café Latte and Irish Cream. I would recommend the Irish Cream for I loved the Irish syrup (tasted like Kahlua/Bailey) mix with coffee. I was too absorbed enjoining my Irish Cream that I forgot to take the picture. Another recommended drink would be the Elder Flower, which is a special blend of chamomile tea, syrup and lychee. Absolutely refreshing with its unique touch of lychee.

Overall, great ambience and the Italian cuisine served tasted great. If you’re looking for a taste of Italian cuisine at an affordable price then Café Lafayette is definitely your choice. Head over to try it out for yourself!
