One of the most awaited food event for me is the Grand Trunk Road Food Fest at Barbeque Nation Pavilion KL. A vibrant celebration of history, culture, and unforgettable flavour, running from 6–26 October 2025. This festival invites us to embark on one of the most flavourful journeys in history—one that stretches across borders, centuries, and traditions.
Inspired by the legendary Grand Trunk Road—a 2,500-year-old trade route stretching from Kabul (Afghanistan) to Chittagong (Bangladesh)—this festival pays delicious tribute to the people, spices, and stories carried along one of Asia’s oldest highways. Along this route, culinary traditions evolved and intertwined, giving birth to dishes that today define South and Central Asian cuisine. And Barbeque Nation has beautifully recreated that journey—right here in Kuala Lumpur.
From Kabul to Kolkata – on a plate, every station tells a ‘foodie’ story, some of the highlights include Kabuli Seekh Kebabs , Punjabi Tandoori Chicken, Magadhi Dal Tadka , Bengali Mishti Doi & Rasgulla and more.
Each bite felt like a postcard from history—familiar yet exciting, deeply rooted in culture and crafted with passion. What I truly enjoyed was the ‘how’ immersive the festival was. It wasn’t just food; it was atmosphere, colour, craftsmanship, and celebration. Same as previous year, the restaurant was decorated with traditional decors, there were folk dances in the restaurant, live artisans lac bangles, henna art and a nostalgic chai stall serving old-school masala chai!
