Chilling & Dining At THE BAR°N

Sometimes it can be tough to find a dining place to chill, wine and dine especially when there’s a big group of people. Recently, I was introduced to THE BAR°N located at 1 Mont Kiara Mall and it has three separated spacious areas encompassing a wine room, bar and dining area that can easily fit up to 200 pax or more. It was a sight to behold at the wine room for it has more than 200 types of exotic wine available for purchase. While sipping a glass of wine, do check out the cigars available as well.

I personally loved the bar area – a great place to watch the mixologist in action while listening to music playing in the background. Another thing that’s unique about THE BAR°N is the lockers where you can rent and store your unfinished bottles *way cool*

After we finished our tour of THE BAR°N, it’s time for us to start our feast. Started with some drinks to quench my thirst and we ordered two drinks from Mocktails series:

Mocktails - The Barn
From (front) – Cranberry Fizz & Fresh Lemonade – RM16 each

Cranberry Fizz is a mixture of cranberry juice, sweet sour mix and soda water. While Fresh lemonade is made from lemon juice, sugar mix, Sprite and soda water. Both serves as a great thirst cooler.

White Wine – Sixty Drops Sauvignon Blanc (NZ) - The Barn

We also had White Wine – Sixty Drops Sauvignon Blanc (NZ) to paired together with some of our main ‘porky’ meals like THE BAR°N pigs in blanket  which are mini sausages wrap with grilled bacon.

Pork satay with Asian condiment is well marinated, tender and juicy to bite on.

Scallop wrapped in bacon with passion fruit sauce, is one of my favourite dish. The scallop is fresh and the fruity flavours sauce perfectly balanced out the saltiness of the bacon. Absolutely, ‘Must Try’!

Oven baked Portobello mushroom with bacon tomato & cheese is another favourite of mine. Mushromm is baked to perfection with layers of oozing cheese is simply irresistible! Another ‘Must Try’ dish.

THE BAR°N crispy pork belly is perfectly roasted however I would prefer if the skin is crispier. You can opt to dip it with their home-made chili sauce or just go without it.

An interesting dish would be the Kentucky fried frog as this is not a common dish you can find in a restaurant.

THE BAR°N signature oven roasted German baby pork rib with special marinated and homemade bbq sauce comes highly recommended. Juicy pork ribs that’s grilled to perfection and meat that’s so tender it falls apart.  Served with potato wedges and mixed vegetable that really tantalized my taste bud.

For burgers, try the All American wagyu beef burger served with Wagyu patties, cheese, bacon, green salad and tomato is certainly scrumptious.  There’s also fries on the side too.

I loved the THE BAR°N pasta that’s filled with bacon bits, bird eye chili, chopped parsley and butter. A tinge of white wine in the sauce is a stroke of genius and alleviated the taste of the dish, definitely a ‘Must Try’.

Smoked salmon pizza tasted great as well. The pizza has fresh smoked salmon served with sour cream, rocket, cheese, onion, mushroom and capers.

Also tried two dishes from the Best of Asian selections which are the Fried Hokkien noodle and THE BAR°N Bah Kut Teh

Fried Hokkien noodle is full of ‘wok hei’ and is served together with sambal sauce.

THE BAR°N Bah Kut Teh is served together with a bowl or rice. Being a Klangnite, I think it’s a tad too light as I prefer a heavier taste. We ended our meal with desserts and ordered all three of the best-sellers. (Note: Apologies for the melting ice-cream pictures as we were busy snapping away with our phones)

Deep fried banana with gula Melaka syrup - The Barn
Deep fried banana with gula Melaka syrup – RM29

Deep fried banana with gula Melaka syrup is served with a scoop of Haagen-Dasz vanilla ice cream is so good. Caramelized deep fried banana with light dose of Melaka syrup definitely rocks, ‘Must Try’!

Chocolate Volcano - The Barn

Oozing thick chocolate sprouting from the Chocolate volcano is smackingly good. The cake is soft, moist and is served with a scoop of Haagen-Dasz vanilla ice cream. Simply a mouthful of flavours bursting in my palate. Absolutely, ‘Must Try’!

The Affogato is not for the weak hearted as it contains a shot of espresso poured over a scoop of Haagen-Dasz vanilla ice cream then set aflame with Sambuca. Definitely heady and sensual at the same time.

It was a gastrostomy feast that night as we chill and dine at THE BAR°N, such a great place to catch up with friends and family. By the way, next week is Christmas and THE BAR°N is having Christmas promotions such as roasted Turkey and special Christmas menus.

This place is definitely worth a revisit and next round I’ll try not to binge myself out  😎
