Well, if you’ve yet to decide then follow me on my feasting journey of Chinese New Year Menu at Dynasty Restaurant, Renaissance Kuala Lumpur Hotel. Each year Executive Sous Chef Kok Chee Kin and his team of talented chefs will create the finest flavours of Cantonese cuisines to tempt our taste buds. This year, we’ve got festive delights such as Treasure Pot aka ‘Poon Choi’, luxurious Set Menus, Claypot Waxes Meat Rice and a variety of Yee Sang for prosperity.
Being an advocate of healthy eating, Chef Kin focuses on the use of traditional ingredients while emphasizing on light and fresh flavours for wholesome feasting with family and friends. Today, I’ll be trying one of the luxurious Set Menus – Fortune Set.
SALMON YEE SANG
Featuring a colouful mixture of raw fish and other exotic seafood served with crunchy vegetables, crackers and condiments. This yummy Salmon Yee Sang is certainly great to kick start your fortune for the year! Apart from Salmon Yee Sang, Dynasty Restaurant also offers 5 types of Yee Sang for your selection such as Fruity Fiesta, Jellyfish, Lobster & Salmon, Yee Sang of 5 treasures and Mini Abalone & Salmon.
FORTUNE COMBINATION PLATTER
There are 4 types of mini specialities platted into this combination platter. You’ve got crunchy asparagus with juice scallops, money bags with meaty fillings, crabmeat wrappings and seaweed moss bags.
YING YANG SCALLOP SOUP WITH DRIED SEAFOOD
This pipping hot broth with its fragrant scent combine with tender scallops and exquisite seafood filling will definitely get you asking for more.
STEAMED LIVE TIGER-DRAGON GROUPER WITH SCALLION AND GINGER
Fresh tiger-dragon grouper steamed to perfection and drizzled with soy sauce is one of the best dish of the night. The meat is tender and the sauce was awesome!
BRAISED PORK KNUCKLE WITH MUSHROOM AND SEA CUCUMBER
Braised to perfection, the juicy meat which has fully absorb the essence of the sauce just simply melts into your mouth. The mushroom and sea cucumber is also a delight to chew on.
GOLDEN PRAWNS WITH SPICY MINCED GARLIC
Crisp and crunchy prawns with generous toppings of spicy minced garlic was definitely delicious.
WOK FRIED GLUTINOUS RICE WITH ASSORTED WAXED MEAT
Extremely flavourful and not as sticky (compare to other restaurants I’ve tried), this glutinous rice got me asking for 2nd helpings.
DOUBLE BOILED DRIED BAMBOO CANE WITH ALOE VERA, FUNGUS & TONG YUEN
Finish our dinner with a bowl of this warm and sweet double boiled soup that contains healthy ingredients such as aloe vera and fungus. The tong yuen is filled with generous oozing sesame fillings.
DYNASTY’S FORTUNE PASTRIES
Of course, you’ve got to enjoy the bowl of sweet dessert with equally scrumptious fortune pastries. Here we’ve got 4 different types of pastries with a variety of filling such as custard and red bean. Not to mention, traditional ‘Nian Gao’ with sprinkles of coconut flakes is a must have.
It was definitely a festive feast fit for the kings. At Dynasty Restaurant, Renaissance Hotel Kuala Lumpur, there are 3 festive set menus for your choosing. They are Happiness at RM1,688 nett, Fortune at RM2,088 nett and Longevity at RM3,288 nett for tables of ten (10) persons. On top of that, there’s also a 6-course and 7-course set menu for two (2 person) priced at RM288++ and RM498++ respectively. Group of six (6) persons are covered with a 9-course set menu at RM1,088 nett. These menus comes with Yee Sang for diners to toss their luck and fortune!
