Fans of BBQ rejoiced as Hilton Kuala Lumpur’s international buffet restaurant, Vasco’s hosts Smokehouse (BBQ) this September. I was one of the lucky foodies that attended a preview of these yummylicious smoky Southwestern-style grilled meats. From 1 September – 9 October 2019, Vasco’s will be featuring the Best of Smokehouse BBQ as part of the international buffet.

So what can one expect from the BBQ buffet spread? The barbecue buffet features different types and cuts of meat from various South Western American states. Each state has its own unique sauce, rub, and style of cooking. For example, Texas is famous for smoked brisket, lamb ribs and hot sausages that are traditionally cooked over mesquite wood. Kansas City uses hickory wood, its own rub mix, and thick, sweet sauce for its beef brisket, lamb and beef ribs, chicken and sausages.
Memphis is known for their sticky-finger experience with smoked dry and wet ribs, and pulled meats served with a soft bun. Alabama keeps it simple with chicken and soft meat sandwiches. Also big on white meat, Louisiana is all about jerked chicken and BBQ chicken.
After trying most of the meats available, I recommend to go for sausages, lamb ribs, beef ribs and BBQ chicken. Well done and cooked to perfection, every mouthful is just sinful. Apart from meats, remember to complement it with sides such as collard greens, mac and cheese, corn hush puppies, skillet corn bread, grilled corn, sweet potato and maple syrup mash and coleslaw.
There are many types of sauces available at the BBQ buffet such as sweet mustard sauce, sweet and spicy BBQ sauce, Texas BBQ sauce, Kansas style BBQ sauce, Memphis style BBQ sauce, Carolina style sweet heat sauce, Kentucky style BBQ sauce, Cajun BBQ sauce and Louisiana BBQ sauce. All the sauces are so tasty. However, if I get to pick my favourite sauce then the winner goes to Texas BBQ sauce that’s not so spicy.
