(Movie Review) Ghostbusters

After 30 years, the movie finally is finally rebooted and it features an all female cast in the leading role. Yes, I’m talking about Ghostbusters. Back when I was a kid, I still remember getting spooked by the show and yet it was so so funny. Before, moving on to my review, below is a quick summary of the synopsis:

Movie Synopsis:

Paranormal researcher Abby Yates (Melissa McCarthy) and physicist Erin Gilbert (Kristen Wiig) are trying to prove that ghosts exist in modern society. When strange apparitions appear in Manhattan, Gilbert and Yates turn to engineer Jillian Holtzmann (Kate McKinnon) for help. Also joining the team is Patty Tolan (Leslie Jones), a lifelong New Yorker who knows the city inside and out. Armed with proton packs and plenty of attitude, the four women prepare for an epic battle as more than 1,000 mischievous ghouls descend on Times Square. This summer, they’re here to save the world!

Here’s my top 3 reasons to watch this movie:

Top 1: Watch it if you love Chris Hemsworth!

  • For the first time ever, he’s acting in a comedy and as a sidekick. Utterly adorable as the receptionist , he’s super duper clueless and perhaps one of the dumbest blokes on earth. Anyway, great eye-candy for the ladies.

Top 2: All female cast in Ghostbusters

  • Everyone is sceptical whether the girls are able to beat the guys (from the earlier adaption) at the role. I would have to say, they were pretty good. The chemistry between the girls was great and had me laughing right from the start till the end.

Top 3: Mischievous Spooky Ghosts

Ecto-1 on the set of Columbia Pictures' GHOSTBUSTERS.
The official car for the Ghostbuster team is actually a funeral car *double hoots*
  • The ghosts are so funny and yucky at the same time. There was a couple of rounds that I got spooked by it (probably due to the factor that I watched it in 3D). Ooh, did I mentioned that they’re super gooey 😀

My verdict is that this one feel good movie to bring your kids along and get rid of their fear in ghosts. Truly an enjoyable movie. By the way, do stay until the end of the rolling credits as there’s a special snippet at the end.
