A-famosa has everything from hotel to golf club and even a theme park. So, what’s next? Lo and behold the newly opened shopping destination Freeport A-Famosa Outlet, designed to make all shoppers go ‘va-va voom’!
Freeport A’Famosa Outlet is located 30 minutes away from Malacca town and is about one and half hour drive from Kuala Lumpur. It’s easily accessible from the North-South Highway via the Alor Gajah Interchange. Surrounded by spectacular scenery and unique design featuring Dutch heritage, this is one beautiful place with many photo opportunities.
Together with 40 bloggers, we were invited for a one day shopping spree at Freeport A’Famosa Outlet. We even had the chance to get fashion tips from 4 celebrity bloggers who were attending the event.
After lunch, we were brief on our challenge ‘Style on a Shoestring’ competition. Bloggers are divided into 2 groups – Stylish category (Group A) and Casual category (Group B). Given only two hours to shop and within a budget of RM350 is definitely challenging! I was praying hard that I’ll get into the Casual category (Group B) and God certainly hear my prayers and ‘ta-da’ Group B it is!
Freeport A’Famosa Outlet is huge and features more than 70 brands including some of my favourite labels like Puma, Nike, Cotton On, Carlo Rino, Forever 21 many more. With bargains up to 70% discount, this is definitely one place that shopaholics will go crazy with!
My OOTD look consists of a Denim Dress from Cotton On (RM39), White long sleeve cardigan (RM49), shoes and accessories self-own! Since, I’ve still got some ‘moolah’ off I go to hunt for sportswear and fashion accessories and within a measly 30 minutes I’ve spend everything. It was truly a fun outing for all of us.
Here are some tips to plan your trip to Freeport A’Famosa Outlet:
- List down the items you need to buy to avoid being seduce by the amazing sales happening there (rules doesn’t apply if you see something really worthy, just go straight for it)
- Prepare cash and clear your credit card bills beforehand.
- Wear comfortably to shop i.e. sandals, shirt with pants or one piece dress
- Bring along a mini fan or basically anything you can fan yourself with (que can be pretty long and the heat will get to you)
- Water is important so prepare a small bottle to quench your thirst (However, do try not to overdrink coz toilet visits are really disruptive especially when you’re in que)
So, now that you’re ready, what should you do upon arriving at Freeport A’Famosa Outlet? Here’s some ideas or tips to get you by:
- If possible, find a parking lot that’s not too far from the outlet.
- Head over to the customer service and grab a pamphlet which will provide you the locations of each stores. Also check whether there’s any promotions going on i.e. PWP / GWP purchases. (Note: When we were there, with every RM300 you’ll get a FREE Umbrella)
- Using the pamphlet select which stores you would like go for first to save time.
- After shopping, if you’re hungry go to Zang Toi Café or Dr. Frappe Kiosk. Optional, there’re food trucks located at the main entrance.
- Finally, take pictures against the scenic architecture such as windmill, carousel, water fountains and lots more.
