After a day of working endlessly in the office, it’s great to meet friends to chill over a drink and gossip the day away. After an hour journey I finally arrived at Nicsmann 1940s by Lewre.
This is the first time, I’ve been to this restaurant and I love the ambience which holds a reminiscent of the early 1940s pub outlook with a modernized touch. Inspire by Lewre, you’ll find yourself transported to an era of fashionable dining atmosphere serving quality great food here.
The décor features elegant classic furniture with high panel glasses and tables that are decorated with tall wine glasses, fresh flowers and lighted candles. The restaurant is also filled with TVs and a huge projector for customers to watch sports or entertainment news.
Today, I’ll be tasting two new culinary dishes prepared by Group Culinary Director, Chef Helvin Han. The uniqueness of the new dishes incorporates my favorite stout Connor’s Stout Porter and I just can’t wait for it.
The first dish to arrive was the Smoked Duck Breast served with homemade mashed potato, fruit compote and a Connor’s-infused honey glaze. Pan-grill duck breast with crispy skin was perfectly tender and juicy to bite on, whilst the fruit compote elevates the taste of the dish with its sweetness. Such exquisite flavours ranging from savoury to sweetness with a right hint of CONNOR’S Stout Porter bitterness in this dish.
Next dish I had was Braise Lamb Ribs with Ratatouille. Perfectly tender and succulence braised ribs that’s been braised for 2.5 hours to ensure it just melt and falls apart beautifully on the fork. It’s served with traditional ratatouille, mashed potatoes with Connor’s braised lamb jus was absolutely delicious. It carries a distinctive flavour that simply just makes my palate yearn for more.
Of course, I had both dishes together with my favorite Connor’s Stout Porter. Available only in draught (22.8L) form, Connor’s Stout Porter is best consume cold with creamy head bubbling on top. This drink is perfect for me as it only contains 5% ABV.
It was certainly a relaxing fun night with great tasting food and good company to hang out with.
