Ever since the borders are reopened, my kids have been bugging me to bring them overseas for a trip. The first country that I can think of was Australia. Why Australia? Australia is well known to be a country for outback adventures, pristine beaches, and immersive nature exploration. There are many wonderful attractions for families to explore and bond together over the holidays. Furthermore, the food and friendly hospitality of Australians are well known too.
Below are some of the attractions that I would like to bring my family for a visit in Australia.
Hutt Lagoon, Port Gregory

Located just 1 km near Port Gregory Jetty, Hutt Lagoon is a must visit point. The water of Hutt Lagoon is an extraordinary sight sometimes in bright bubble-gum pink, sometimes lilac and occasionally even red. Head out before sunset and watch the colours transform. Snaps pictures of this captivating lake. It takes about 6-hour drive from Perth.
Horizontal Falls, Kimberly

Have you been to a waterfall that flows on both directions? One of the greatest wonders of the natural world is the ‘Horizontal Falls’ aka ‘Horries’ which lies in Kimberly. The Horizontal Falls form when the very high tide shifts through a gap in the ridges of the enclosed rock wall to create the appearance of a waterfall. Take a scenic flight from Broome or Derby which is available all year round. There’s also extended cruise or visit by float plant for that thrilling boat ride.
Cottlesloe Beach, Perth

A 15-minute train ride from the city of Perth. Cottesloe beach is the perfect weekend place for relaxation. Enjoy surfing, swimming, and snorkelling at the glorious white sands of Cottesloe Beach. Have a picnic on the beach or dine beside the ocean. Every March, the beach becomes a free sand sculpture exhibition showcasing amazing works by the best sand artists around.
Great Ocean Road, Melbourne

The spectacular Great Ocean Road is renowned for its rugged natural beauty and surfing cultures. The amazing views and beautiful landscapes make this 242KM stretch of road Australia’s most famous coastal journey. The highlight of this journey is the 12 Apostles, the soaring pillars which have been chiselled out of limestone over 10 to 20 million years.
Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park, Adelaide

Uluru also known as Ayers Rock, is an enormous sandstone rock formation. Situated about 450K from Alice Springs, the highlight is the Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park. Be amazed by the beautiful sunrises and sunsets, ancient landscapes, and fascinating culture. The Uluru rock formation is also a UNESCO World Heritage-listed site.
Movie World, Gold Coast

Let’s fulfilled our childhood fantasy by meeting our favourite movie characters at Warner Bros. Movie World. There are thrilling rides and Kids’ Fun Zone available for adults and kids to enjoy together.
There are many more interesting places to visit in Australia and it’ll take my family a few trips to complete our bucket list 😀
Here are some tips to prepare for a trip to Australia.
- Be fully vaccinated with two doses of a Covid-19 vaccine before travelling
- Hold a valid Australian visa (take note to apply online at least 2-3 months in advance)
- Present a negative RTK within 24 hours or PCR test taken within 72 hours of departure.
I might not have the luxury of time to plan my trip properly, hence I’m going to Sedunia Travel as they have ready-to-go packages which can be found here: https://sedunia.com.my/australia/. Apart from that, they can also tailor the itinerary based on my needs and assist on flight bookings with customize tour packages.
