Visit Taiwan Expo 2020 in Malaysia virtually from 25th- 27th Nov!

A yearly affair, the Taiwan Expo 2020 is an exhibition that many Malaysian businesses look forward to as it may create golden business opportunities for both countries. This year the Taiwan Expo is hosted online from 25th – 27th November 2020 using the latest 360-degree 3D virtual reality to recreate the exhibition hall. Be prepared to immerse yourself in this online experience!

A popular trade exhibition to foster ties among Malaysia & Taiwan, the opening ceremony was officiated by Mr. James C.F. Huang, Chairman of Taiwan External Trade Development Council (TAITRA)  together with other VIPs including Ms. Sharon Ho Swee Peng, President of Malaysia Friendship and Trade Centre, Taipei、Ms. Anne Hung, Representative of Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Malaysia, Mr. Khairul Annuar Abdul Halim, Director of China & Northeast Asia Section, Exports Promotion & Market Access Division, MATRADE and Datuk Michael Kang Hua Keong, National President of SME Association of Malaysia.

In his greeting speech, Mr. James Huang mentioned that Taiwan and Malaysia have always had a close relationship. Although the global pandemic has made physical exchange difficult, with the help of technology and digitalization, the friendship and cooperation between the two countries will continues to thrive. The Taiwan Expo in Malaysia 2.0. is the best example.

Ms. Anne Huang  further emphasized that Taiwan and Malaysia’s economy and trade compliments each other well. In 2019, Malaysia is Taiwan’s 7th largest partner reaching bilateral trade of nearly US$20 billion. With the Taiwan Expo, surely it will create greater economic and trade benefits for Taiwan-Malaysia.

On the local front, Mr. Khairul Annuar stated that, MATRADE and TAITRA have recently extended their Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) by another 2 years with the objective of further enhancing bilateral trade cooperation and trade promotion in the following areas: Halal Goods, F&B, ICT and e-Commerce. The “Halal Taiwan” is one of the 7 pillars in this year expo and indicates Taiwan’s interest in enhancing the Halal Awareness in Taiwan.

Mr James Huang shared an overview of Taiwan Expo 200 which gives visitors a 360-degree viewing experience. There are 13 themed pavilions across 7 major categories as below:

The opening ceremony ends with a group photo among the guests from Taiwan and Malaysia with the butterfly hand gesture to symbolise Taiwan. Followed by VIP’s doing a virtual handshake to signal the building of strong ties and cooperation between Malaysia and Taiwan,
