Pink Belly – The Porky Heaven

Bangsar has always been well-known for famous eateries and also major traffic area. If you drive further from this area and head towards Lorong Kurau, you’ll discover Pink Belly which stands out among the nook of the old shop lots. Pink Belly was started 6 months ago by entrepreneur Mr.Sylvester Fan, who is passionate about coffee and serving delicious  porky dishes to his customers. Stepping into the restaurant with its minimalist decor, the first thing that I caught my eye was the amusing quotes. We chatted with other bloggers whilst waiting for food to be served.

Firstly, to arrive was Porky Penne Pasta served with smoked bacon, honey ham cubes and mushrooms. We opted for spicy aglio olio, however there are other selections available such as carbonara or pesto. The pasta was al dente and the flavours was appetizing as well. However, it’s a tad too oily most likely because of the bacon.

The next dish, was Pink Belly’s house signature – Roasted Pork Belly. A thick chunk of pork belly roasted to crunchy perfection served with roasted root vegetables and braised red cabbage. You can opt with either a choice of honey BBQ, jalapeño or original sauce. We were given the jalapeno sauce which alleviated the taste of the pork. Crunchy skin with juicy porky meat that’s dip into spicy jalapeno sauce is simply delicious. Definitely, a ‘Must Try’!

Our next dish was the Porky Risotto, stir-fried risotto with pork belly slices, wild mushrooms and garden vegetables. Opt for either caramelised or original flavours. Our dish has a hint of sweetness so it’s most likely the caramelised version. The risotto is al dente with a touch of chewiness and the thinly sliced pork was perfectly roasted. I love this dish so it’s a ‘Must Try’.

I think the highlight of the night is the BBQ Sticky Pork Ribs served with potato wedges, vegetables and coleslaw. Perfectly roasted meat that practically falls of the bone and drizzle in the chef’s special BBQ sauce is so succulent. Another, ‘Must Try’ dish!

Next came, the Grilled Pork Skewers. Spicy pan-grilled honey glazed pork balls on skewers with roasted root vegetables served on aromatic buttered basmati rice. To be honest, the plating wasn’t that great looking but the dish was absolutely delicious! Take a bite and the well marinated juicy meatballs flavours simply burst in your mouth. Absolutely a ‘Must Try’!

Something light was served which is the Pink Belly Salad, a medley of romaine lettuce, red cabbages, tomato cubes, watermelon, lychee and honey ham cubes with smoked bacon bits. This is a filling dish and I like the fruity taste. However, it seems a tad too oily.

We ended our meal with desserts and was served with Special Vanilla Ice-Cream. It’s a double scoop vanilla ice cream drizzled in maple syrup topped with smoked bacon slices. I definitely love this dish for its mixture of sweetness and saltiness flavours.

For pork lovers, this is definitely your porky heaven to satisfy your cravings. I’ll arrange another visit with my family soon as they’ve been craving for porky dishes as well.
