Recently, I went for a review at The Majestic Hotel Kuala Lumpur as they present their festive feast this year. There are two different menus available this year, where you can opt for either Festive Variety which is located at Contango or Festive Banquet at Function Rooms, Level 3.
For FESTIVE VARIETY DINNER at CONTANGO it’s focusing on local Malay cuisine where we can taste the richness of northern flavours at the nasi kandar section. Mouth-watering dishes such as kari ikan tenggiri, ketam kari masak, sotong kari and dalcha sayur awaits to delight my tastebud.
There’s also the tender daging briyani with soft and fragrant nasi briyani seasoned with local spices, turmeric and shallots or nasi putih. Other side dishes such as crispy fried chicken, fried prawn, fried quail and fried fish accompanied with deep fried bitter gourd and papadom was introduced as well. I would have to say my favourite dish from this menu was the ketam kari masak and fried quail.
Apart from the local Malay cuisine, in Contango you’ll also find international cuisines ranging from Thai, Japanese to Western Grill and Italian as well.

Next, we head over to taste the FESTIVE BANQUET DINNER held at the elegant Function Rooms, Level 3. In here, Chef Zaidi and his team presents the best of Malaysia’s nine Royal states recipes with specialities such as Perak’s highly sought after Udang Galah Sambal; fresh river prawn slow-cooked with sweet and spicy chili paste, Kedah’s signature Rendang Itik simmered in coconut milk and spices, Johor’s legendary Kambing Kuzi and local Aneka Goreng live station. A must try is the Udang Galah Sambal which was very tasty with the right level of spiciness.
The dessert section features an array of heavenly desserts and since I love durian, the recommended is to try the bubur kacang hijau with durian or santan durian. I guarantee you’ll come back for second helpings. Other local delicacies available are kuih peneram, seri muka, buah Melaka, tapai pulut and tapai ubi.
